About this event

The role of the workplace chaplain is to reflect God’s love and concern in places of employment and commerce and come alongside people as they go about the joys and frustrations of daily working life. A chaplain meets people where they are, in the midst of life – and there is no more vital context for such an encounter as where people work.

Chaplains commit to regularly visiting a particular workplace, once every 3 to 4 weeks. Or they might visit small businesses in a particular location, such as a shopping centre, high street or business park. From experience we know chaplaincy works best when chaplains are working alongside other chaplains as part of a local team. This provides support and encouragement for chaplains and helps with the organisation of training. Teams are usually drawn from different local churches of different denominations both lay people and ordained ministers, contributing their time as volunteers. Chaplaincy is ecumenism in action – a practical and simple means of putting faith into action.

The event will introduce workplace chaplaincy, consider how and why this can be part of our church’s mission and outreach and look at the work Faith at Work in Worcestershire (FWW) is doing, in partnership with churches, across Worcestershire.

Following the seminar there will be a chance to sign up for a free training course – An Introduction to Workplace Chaplaincy - starting on February 10th 2022. This will be a 6 week course with each session lasting 90 minutes from 7:00pm-8:30pm.
